POSITION DESCRIPTION
Color Of Change staff uses different tech platforms to communicate with members and the general public. Volunteer data, bulk texting data, email transaction data, web data, etc., are examples of data the organization collects but which exist across a wide variety of technology systems.
This role will require organizing various ELT processes and data streams in our centralized repository by leveraging various API systems and, in some cases building/triaging data pipelines. The Analytics Engineer will also develop a wide range of reporting and dashboarding base tables, working with our data analysts to ensure consistency and accuracy across data reporting so we can monitor performance, surface strategic insights, and answer important management questions.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with stakeholders throughout the team to build base tables to power reports and similar products so that staff can consume data information that enables data-driven decision-making

Write and maintain ELT and data quality scripts, leveraging APIs of disparate systems, to ensure that data is consistently flowing and accurately updating the data intelligence products used by the team (reports, dashboards, etc.)

Have at rust-but-verify approach, with your code written to assume many modes of potential failure so that you are alerted whenever an anomaly is detected

Identify and fix problems before consumers of the data notice, but communicate widely when anomalies are seen. Ensure continuity and quality of data between systems by building checks into the systems to catch flaws in the data

Serve as admin and troubleshoot analyst issues with Sisense (our BI tool)

Work with the Technology department and others to execute a data pipeline strategy based on your understanding of the various data streams and the requirements of the stakeholders who want to leverage that data for reporting and analysis

QUALIFICATIONS

2+years of experience with data transformations or pipelines
-
A strong racial justice analysis with the ability to effectively integrate this analysis in your data work, including identifying moments where racial justice may affect the collection, analysis, and presentation of our data-along with an eagerness to engage with the team to identify solutions

Experience with DBT

Intermediate to Advanced SQL, including the ability to write complex queries with multiple subqueries as well as advanced functions

Experience using a scripting language like Python (or others like JavaScript, Ruby, etc.) to manipulate data from multiple sources and display it visually using appropriate packages (e.g., pandas, D3, Plot.ly, etc.,...)

Problem-solving mindset that enables you to design and build pipelines that, in a campaign environment, may need to be re-engineered under tight timelines

Attention to detail: the quality of the organization’s decisions depends on your code being right, so unit testing and integration testing are important. Any experience with unit testing is helpful but not required

Desire to learn and innovate with BI tools configuration and identify ways to visualize data.

COMPENSATION
The salary for the Analytics Engineer position is $90,000- $94,500. Color Of Change also offers a competitive benefits package. This is a full-time, exempt position.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Working at Color Of Change (COC), you should be prepared to work remotely and/or in the assigned office location when hired. This position requires working core hours, Monday - Friday, on a laptop for most of the work day and additional time as required by job duties.
